Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon: Great getaway!

Bill's isn't the biggest or fanciest on the strip but if you are looking to step back and get out of the hustle and bustle of the mega resorts check it out. While the slots aren't the newest, the service is great. You can sit and play some good paying video poker and have a cocktail waitress actually attend to you when you need it instead of waiting forever like you do at the bigger places. The cafe also offers great specials during different times. The $3.99 steak and eggs at 3am isn't the greatest in the world but hey, it's 3 am and it's only $3.99, what do you expect. I've never actually stayed at Bill's but I always make it a point to stop in at least while I'm in town.

Ellis Island Casino: Best Island Around

Ellis Island is probably my favorite locals casino to visit. To start with the food is always great, I make it a point to get BBQ at least once during my vacation and everytime I do I remember why, mmmm..... While the tables are limited, if you want to have an enjoyable slot/video poker time you have to stop in. We never leave without someone in our group hitting something on a machine. Don't forget about their own house brews, if you like microbrews you have to try a couple of their beers. If you like to sing, you have to check out the keroke bar, it's always packed too!!

El Cortez Hotel & Casino: Great Value

If you enjoy the "old Las Vegas" feel or are looking for some value then El Cortez is the place for you. You can find single deck $5 blackjack games with good odds and you don't have to deal with half the tourist on the strip that have just seen the game on tv but never played it. The steakhouse is also a great value for the quality and quantity that you get. Historically it's pretty cool to still see a casino that looks like the pictures from 40 yrs ago in this day and age of bigger and better. I've never left disappointed and always look forward to going back.

Gun Lake Casino: Scammed?

I will never go back. It took too long to get blackjack tables then the dealer ripped me off. I placed a $40 bet and pointed to hit me. The dealer skipped i said hit me, he said no you didn't. Oh yes i did and of course he pulled a 5 which on my 2nd hit that would had been a 21 the 5 gave him 17. Then, the visit before that, i was up $350 i cashed in my chips and ended up getting $17. i was a bit tipsy and it was obvious i was told the remaining was on my players card of coarse it was not this place will steal from you I have never returned and will never go back again....

Loved it again! Visit once or twice a year - the steakhouse is fabulous and the rooms are large - particularly the bathrooms! Plan to visit again this fall!

Empire City at Yonkers Raceway: never seem to win !!!

Im sorry to say this- empire casino just does not pay to play. I understand gambling is gambling.... and should only spend what you can afford to lose. because here at empire city that is what WILL happen. my husbamd and i go usually 2 times per month . we walk in with 3 grand and walk out with change in our pocket ALWAYS. makes you wonder how that can happen time and time again. the service is the - well what am i saying there is no service. you can be so thirsty and sitting on a machine losing hundreds of dollars and you cant even get service. when you do get service a small small soda the waitress gives you dirty look if her tip is not at least a dollar. and that is what i give for my little soda in hopes she will come back by soon.. ha-ha no way. service here is simply not given here and the gambler is not important to the house. they see how many thousands you spend there via member card. and you e-mail me a 5 dollar coupon that i have to print.. what is up with that. i have never been offered food . how do you get that there ? meaning comped - ballys just sent us a coupon for 4 free nights and 150.00 free play - hhmmm ! we only went there once and that is what they are offering.. come on empire get it together- let people win at least a little. I feel as if i have personally paid for your remodel- your welcome !! we shall see if there is any changes due to new casino openning. better get your friendly hats on as for i see empire losing a ton of customers ( members ).. I have not seen a jackpot go out to a peson in 2 years .. hhmm !!

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek: Really nice casino

I visited florida last week and stopped by this casino. After reading the reviews i was not sure i wanted to go. After spending 7 hours there i cannot see what all the complaints are about. They have all the newest machines. The place was extremely clean and bright. The staff could not be more pleasant. I went to 5 different casinos that week and this was the best by far. My money last me the longest there in fact i came out 600 dollars ahead. I played so many machines i can't rememeber all i played. If you want variety this place can't be beat. I had no problem getting play time at any machine. I go to florida once a year and will make it a point to go back there.

Delta Downs Racetrack & Casino: No video poker!

Not bad for a horse track. The gaming area is pretty big with alot of room to move around. The downside is no VP or table games. I ate at the food court which is basically what you'd expect from a food court. Overall not bad.

Empire City at Yonkers Raceway: This place robs you blind

This place is horrible! You never win here and I mean NEVER! The machines just steal your money and pay nothing. You are better off buying yourself something that you like with the money you will surely lose at Empire City. I feel sorry for most of the people who go there because they look like they cannot affort to lose their rent and grocery money, which is what they are doing. How foolish of anyone to visit Empire City. Save your money and go to Mohegan Sun or Atlantic City once in a while, but please please skip this place. Your odds of winning are 0%. No one ever wins here. You can also fill out a form and have yourself banned from receiving any Empire City $5 vouchers (big deal) and you can ban yourself from going there. That is everyone's best bet! Ban yourself from getting robbed at this place!

Jumer's Casino & Hotel: Don't Have a Reception Here

We had our wedding reception at Jumer's on January 14th 2012. The security staff went out of their way to harass our guests and not allow them in the casino. They were asking people waiting to get in if they had been at the wedding reception, then would turn them away. I was the Groom and was treated horrible by the staff, as were members of our families, including the Father of the Bride. 2 of our uncles who do not even drink were told they were too intoxicated to enter, and even a pregnant Aunt was hassled. We had members of our wedding party treated so bad that they checked out of the hotel and left. It has almost been a month and Jumer's has still done nothing, even though dozens of people left comment cards, emailed and called them to complain. Do not have your wedding reception here. We did however enjoy the bed in the room.
